Support to Orangutan Conservation in Berau

The Tahija Foundation supports an initiative to protect orangutan habitats. Rather than excluding the local people, this initiative engages them and over time is expected to develop the communities as local resource managers.

Rather than placing conservation, communities and commercial interests as opposing factions, the initiative tries to find solution for collaborative management. The idea is to eventually excerpt the lessons and widely replicate successful approaches.
